iPhone 3G unlocked

According to http://www.dataquest.ch/iphone.html, the iPhone will be sold with or without a subscription in Switzerland.

That's good news. My guess is that Apple did not have a choice than to offer the iPhone unlocked in many countries as otherwise the carriers wouldn't take it.

So the wait is over soon.

I like the concept of the iphone... but i have many complains about it... like it doesnt make sense that you cant copy/paste text or even photos... I turned off the auto-correction feature which sucks..

Another big turn-off of the iphone is the incapacity to run several appz at the same time.. you can't load a msn clone appz while you go surf on the buggy safari.. it's one application at a time :( :( I think that ANY Os would work just as fast as the iphone if it'd allow just one appz at once... So it doesnt make impressed of "osx" at all.. when you compare with windows devices where you can chat on msn while playing with the gps and surf the web and so on...

You can't use your iphone's connection on your laptop (which you can do from most Windows device) ..

I'm also not impressed by the battery.. used to be better on the v2.. even after turning off blue, wifi, 3g and brightness... it justs doesnt last long

Autocorrection sucks if you write two languages. I completely agree on that. For pure english it might be ok. It can be switched off by a settings. Unfortunately that setting is not shown on some language phones.

Copy & Paste is also a most wanted feature by many. There are some hints that it might exist one day. That's just a software question. Nobody's perfect, not even Apple. But at least the iPhone is easily software upgradeable, not like Nokia's where you have to go to the shop to get it flashed or others where you don't have that feature at all.

This is not a limit of the iPhone OS. It is a limitation of Apple's SDK which let developers programs only run their App's inside the sandbox. That means they can not put themselves into background (launch of other processes is forbidden). Applications running natively outside the sandbox can very well do that (see Fringle.com for example who runs MSN/AIM/ICQ/Skype in the background). But of course this has its pricetag (batterylife) too. There's no magic there.

Again, its the SDK limitation which sucks. The OS is fine. The GUI is different from Desktop MacOS X but the programming interface is very similar. Without the limits of the SDK, you could solve all those issues mentioned above. And yes its possible to run code without using the SDK but its not really everybody's way as its a hack.

Most wanted feature too. NetShare has been taken out of the App store.
Apple USA has not understood the european market and is trying to force US rules on Europe. That just doesn't work. This is marketing nonsense.

Every feature comes with a trade off. A big touchscreen with backlight takes its current. The only way would be to add even bigger batteries.
In my day to day use, the iPhone 3G's battery lasts for a day and I charge it at night. That's enough for me. That's the limits of physics.
